Civil rights icon Pauli Murray LL.M. ’45 will be memorialized on a special quarter through the U.S. Mint’s American Women Quarters Program. A lawyer, writer, activist, and poet, Murray was valedictorian and the only woman in her Howard Law School class, the first Black person to earn a J.S.D. from Yale Law School, the first Black female Episcopalian minister, and a founding member of the National Organization for Women.
