Berkeley Law alum Janani Ramachandran ’20 was recently sworn in as Oakland’s new City Council member for District 4. She is the youngest person ever elected to the Council and its first South Asian. Recently, she served as a commissioner on the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs, and was a workers’ rights staff attorney at the Oakland nonprofit Centro Legal de la Raza.
