Berkeley Law Departments, Centers and Faculty — Room Requests via the room system, Mazevo
Using the room planning website (Mazevo) allows you to see the room schedule in real time to help make your event planning easier and more effective. To request an account follow the link below, log in using CalNet, fill in the fields and click save. You will receive an email when your account is active.
Berkeley Law room request site:
- Berkeley Law Room Requests (enter your Berkeley affiliated email on the Mazévo page then click next)
- Classes always take priority and cannot be moved to accommodate events
- Building Services (room set up) and Media Services (AV equipment) both require a minimum of three (3) working days advance notice after your request has been confirmed
- Each reservation is limited to the use of the rooms and event space confirmed only
- If you have reserved an outdoor space and the weather turns inclement, you do not automatically have access to other parts of the building without a reservation
- Storage space is not available
Room Planning will make every effort to approve your request as quickly as possible, but remember that reserving a room is only the first step.
- All room users are expected to return the room(s) to pre-event condition at the conclusion of the event
- Make your request well in advance of the event so that any reservation conflicts or other issues may be resolved
Not cleaning up and/or leaving debris or event material in the room(s) after your event is considered a Room Incident and may cause review of your reservation privileges.
Here is a guide for after event disposal.
Additional Room Incident Examples:
•Taking furniture from another event room or space. applies to indoor and outdoor events
•Using a room without a reservation
•Food in a No Food room
Events must not affect teaching of classes in progress. We ask all event planners to please remember that they are responsible for ensuring that no one enters a classroom for an event while a class is still in progress.
The Law School is not open and cannot be reserved for weekend events.
In general, the law school building is not able to support events taking place outside of regular business hours (8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday). Events that are staged by Berkeley Law Centers or departments and are staffed by the employees of a Berkeley Law Center or department may be allowed before 8:00am, after 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with the understanding that employees of a Berkeley Law School center or department will be present at the event, stay until the end of the event, and be responsible for clean-up once the event is over.
Building Services (room set-up, compost bins, supplemental furniture) and Media Services (AV set-up, conferencing), are NOT included in your reservation. Contact them a minimum of three working days once you have a confirmed reservation.
To open a ‘ticket’ for service for your event please contact:
- Building Services email: facilities@law.berkeley.edu
- Media Services email: media@law.berkeley.edu
- A completed and UCPD approved permit must be on display at all events where alcohol is being served
- Alcohol permits are for the designated space only, alcoholic beverages cannot be taken to other parts of the building
- See Alcohol Permits section for application process
If your event may require security for speakers or other security needs, contact Building Oversight Committee (BOC) as far in advance of your event as possible.
Generally speaking, you will receive a confirmation for your space request in three to four working days. There are, however, other factors that could affect your event planning:
- Alcohol at event (alcohol permit is a separate process, see Alcohol Permits). Reservation will not be finalized until the permit is also finalized
- Room use restrictions may apply. While we try to gain enough information from you before confirming an event, occasionally a room cannot be used as the purpose or size of the event ends up not matching that of the room. Please be specific on your room requests and see Room Descriptions when choosing a room to help avoid this issue
- UCPD security assessment, if needed
- Events occurring in the first weeks of the semester before the class schedules are finalized by the Law Registrar receive approved-conditional status and may be moved/changed as the class schedule is being adjusted during this period
- Once the Registrar releases the rooms for general use events that received approved-conditional status will be confirmed
- Events that occur before the rooms are released will be confirmed on a case by case basis
Please notify Room Planning, Building Services and Media Services if you cancel your event!
- The School of Law reserves the right to cancel your reservation due to misrepresentation of the event, the speakers, or the advertising
- We reserve the right to change your reservation if it is deemed necessary by the administration of the School of Law
- Do not prop open ANY doors that are locked. Event participants must use the approved entrances
- Berkeley Law facilities must be used in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws, including ADA regulations, as well as in accordance with University policies and procedures. Please review the U.C.P.D. web document Rules of Conduct In Campus Buildings and building use rules are posted at all building entrances
- Furniture must never block exit paths, including hallways, lobbies, doorways, etc.
- Do not take furniture, including tables and chairs, from one space to use in another, this applies to both indoor and outdoor furniture
- NO OPEN FLAME of any kind is permitted for cooking or any other purpose at any event. This applies both indoors and outdoors
