Tracking benefits from DOE investments under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act
This interactive map shows U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) investments made through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). This map identifies where DOE’s demonstration and deployment investments are occurring and includes high-level snapshots of the local benefits that may be associated with these investments. The map includes data for 635 projects, which are a subset of the publicly announced BIL and IRA selected and awarded projects.
Community Benefit Plans (CBPs) were required for nearly all BIL and IRA demonstration and deployment projects to de-risk DOE-backed funding and inspire local support and development. CBPs included a wide range of benefits, from local hire requirements to binding workforce agreements. While there were over 1,000+ projects competitively selected by the Department of Energy and 4,000+ formula funding awardees, this data reflects a subset of energy and manufacturing projects with public community benefits commitments, which included 635 projects. These projects represent $110 billion of loans, grants, and tax credits.

Notes on the Data
The projects on this map represent a subset of publicly announced BIL and IRA selected and awarded projects that require community benefits plans. This information is based solely on data found in DOE public fact sheets at selection or, in some cases, updated information at award.
At present, the locations of pins on the map represent the centroid of the city or county in which the project is located and is not specific to census tracts.
The map data is limited to projects that:
- Are BIL/IRA demonstration or deployment projects or will inform future demonstration or deployment projects, such as Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) studies.
- Have a specific location that is publicly available and identified at the county, city, or Tribal level. Please note that some projects listed are multi-location or may be a headquarters listed while work locations are finalized.
- Developed community benefits plans.
Have publicly available information on local investment. Benefits mapped are not comprehensive of all benefits for each project.
