Karla Kidd is the first Research Administrator at the Center for Law, Energy, & the Environment (CLEE). Karla has over twenty years of experience in Research Administration and, for the past ten years, she has worked in the University of Texas System. Prior to joining UC Berkeley, Karla was a Senior Post Award Specialist in the Office of Sponsored Programs at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Karla has also served in prominent administrative positions at University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in the Department of Biology and UTSA’s NASA MIRO Center for Advanced Measurement in Extreme Environments (CAMEE). Karla has experience in student support and development, academic programming at the undergraduate and graduate level, day-to-day administrative and financial operations, and research administration for pre- and post-award activities.

Karla is a fully remote employee and resides in the State of Texas. She is also housed in UC Berkeley ProS (Professional Schools) Region on the Research Administration team but provides research administration services exclusively to CLEE. She provides analytical and financial support in proposal processing, contracts and grants administration, budget development including pre-award proposal initiatives, management of funds post-award, and closeout activities for federal, state, local, and private sponsors. Karla’s experience, as well as her sole focus on supporting CLEE’s financial operations, will be invaluable to CLEE for our continued financial growth.
