Matching Challenge Gift and Memorial Initiative
In memory of our friend and colleague Lindsay Harris, the Center has received two pledges totaling $35,000 as a challenge match for gifts made to the Center between now and November 1, 2024. This gift will allow us to complete our project to create three new Berkeley EdX courses in comparative equality law, Global Pay Equity and Wage Fairness, Global Systemic Racism, and The Global Movement for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. With this added support, the project can now be completed by July of 2026.
Our EdX courses are available to students around the world (except in China, where they are currently blocked). Students and faculty working with the Center will interview over a hundred leading academics, advocates, and activists working on these important issues and incorporate them into these free online courses. Thus, Lindsay’s memory will help us reach thousands of students who care about equality for women, people of color, persons with disabilities, and others deprived of equality rights. The projects will be staffed by Berkeley undergraduates working at our Center, the group to whom she was so devoted as a teacher and mentor.
Gifts to the Center can be made at this website. To be sure that your gift is matched please inform me or Charlie Tsunoda of your gift at doppenheimer@law.berkeley.edu or charlietsunoda@berkeley.edu.
We will have a tribute to Lindsay and her teaching and mentoring on January 23 at our program on New Developments in Gender Discrimination and Harassment Law in California, the United States, and Beyond.
