Hana Ivanhoe’s research and scholarship focuses primarily on business and human rights, with an emphasis on the corporate duty to respect in the context of international trade and our increasingly globalized world.
Ivanhoe has worked on matters of trade and development from both the public and private sector perspectives. She is currently the Deputy Director of JustPeace Labs (JPL) where she oversees the organization’s Ethics Program, geared toward ensuring that public and private sector entities introducing internet and communications technologies into conflict and recently post conflict settings do so in a manner that it legal and ethical.
Before helping to found JPL, Ivanhoe was an Advocacy Manager with global nonprofit organization, Fairfood International. Ivanhoe spearheaded Fairfood’s US advocacy for a fair and sustainable food system that complies with domestic and international legal standards governing environmental protection and human and labor rights, particularly geared toward the corporate responsibility to respect human rights.
Before joining Fairfood, Ivanhoe advised corporate clients on matters of anti- corruption, international trade compliance and cross-border commercial transactions as an attorney with Baker & McKenzie LLP in its San Francisco, California office.
Ivanhoe has a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley. While at Berkeley Law, she was co-Editor in Chief of the Berkeley Journal of International Law and served on the International Human Rights Law Clinic.
