Michelle J. Cole is a Professor of Legal Writing in the First-Year Skills Program. Prior to joining Berkeley Law, Michelle was an Assistant Professor at the Charlotte School of Law where she taught Appellate Advocacy and Lawyering Process.
Before she began her academic career, Michelle practiced law for ten years. Most recently, she was Counsel in the Product Liability Group of Alston & Bird LLP’s Charlotte office, where she specialized in appellate issues and complex legal writing. Prior to joining Alston & Bird, she practiced for five years with the Tort and Environmental Litigation Department of King & Spalding’s Atlanta office and two years with the Litigation Department of Davis Polk & Wardwell’s New York office. After law school, Michelle clerked for Judge Richard J. Cardamone of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
