Stephen Oetgen serves as Executive Vice President & General Counsel of Golden Gate Capital, a private equity firm based in San Francisco. Formerly, he was one of the founding partners of Kirkland & Ellis LLP’s San Francisco office. When that office first opened in January 2003, Mr. Oetgen relocated from Kirkland & Ellis’s Chicago office, where he began his career in 1994 and became partner in 2000. Mr. Oetgen has served as lead counsel in numerous private equity transactions, including going-private transactions, leveraged and management buyouts, venture capital investments, divestitures, other mergers and acquisitions, equity financings, and various senior and mezzanine debt financings.
