Joe Sorenson practiced corporate and transactional law for 35 years before retiring in 2014. He had been a partner in the corporate group at DLA Piper LLP (US) and its predecessor firms since 1999. His practice focused on venture capital and private financings, public securities offerings, SEC/public disclosure compliance, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate partnering transactions, primarily in the technology industry. His practice included numerous international transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and licensing transactions. He has also represented a variety of nonprofit organizations.
In addition to Berkeley Law, he has been a visiting lecturer at UC Davis School of Law and UC Hastings Law.
