Ioana Petrou is an Associate Justice of the California First District Court of Appeal. Previously, she was an Alameda County Superior Court Judge for eight years and presided over civil, family, and criminal departments in addition to being the Supervising Judge of the Civil Division. Prior to being appointed to the bench, Justice Petrou was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Divisions of the Northern District of California, where she was the Criminal Health Care Fraud Coordinator for the Northern District and the Major Crimes supervisor. Justice Petrou was also an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the Eastern District of New York and was in private practice with O’Melveny & Myers and Foley & Lardner.
