Dena M. Roche is a founder and managing partner at O’Rielly & Roche LLP. O’Rielly & Roche LLP is a law firm that advises and represents lawyers, law firms, in-house legal departments, and law-related businesses on professional responsibility, risk management, and law firm practice management matters. Ms. Roche’s practice includes general counsel and legal ethics advice; law firm formation and planning; law firm transitions, including departures, dissolutions, and succession planning; and law-related business counsel.
Ms. Roche is the past Chair and current Advisor to the California State Bar’s Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct (COPRAC) for 2021-2022. She has served on COPRAC for six years. Ms. Roche is also a member of many other professional responsibility organizations and associations nationwide and in California. She regularly presents at public and private CLE conferences and other events on professional responsibility and legal ethics issues. She is the editor of the firm’s Partner Departure Law blog (www.partnerdeparturelaw.com).
Ms. Roche also serves as a consultant and expert witness on legal and ethical issues related to law firm departures, attorney transitions, and partnership matters. She is also a certified mediator who conducts mediations and acts as a neutral throughout California, with an emphasis on resolving business and law firm partnership-related disputes.
