Bidish Sarma joined the Death Penalty Clinic in 2012, after serving as the Deputy Director of the Capital Appeals Project in New Orleans, where he represented indigent death row inmates on appeal. Prior to moving to Berkeley, he taught a course on capital punishment at Tulane University Law School and published a number of articles and opinion pieces on topics related to the death penalty, race discrimination in the criminal justice system, and indigent criminal defense. He received his B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Michigan in 2005, and his J.D. from Yale Law School in 2008.
