Colloquium
Monday, April 8, 12:30–1:45 pm PT, Room 113, Berkeley Law Building
The ongoing war in Israel has affected all aspects of life, including reproduction. In this talk, Nofar Yakovi Gan-Or will discuss one example of the intersection between war and reproduction, found in the novel and controversial practice of posthumous reproduction. Used to describe a host of scenarios where gametes are used to create children following the death of their progenitors, posthumous reproduction has been practiced in Israel for over two decades. The talk will touch upon the ethical and legal challenges it poses, brought to the fore during the war with the rising demand for posthumous reproduction on behalf of families of fallen soldiers.
