Interested in learning more about public defense work?
Join Defenders at Berkeley to hear a panel of senior attorneys from the San Francisco Public Defender discuss their careers, life as a PD, the office philosophy, and the progression through internships, public defender hiring, and other experiences.
Mano Raju ’95 directs the San Francisco Office as the elected Public Defender. A son of immigrants from India, his pursuit of justice is rooted in his acute awareness of the ramifications of social inequalities. Mano is deeply committed to a client and community-centered approach to defense work. As the only elected Public Defender in California, Mano continues to uphold the Office’s reputation as a formidable legal team and catalyst for criminal legal system change.
Hadi Razzaq ’02 is the Assistant Chief Attorney for Operations at the San Francisco Office. He served as a deputy public defender in Contra Costa and Marin Counties before joining San Francisco, and has supervised the Investigations, Paralegal, Reentry, and Pre-Trial Release Units.
Jacque Wilson is the Misdemeanor Manager and Intern Director. He oversees trial strategy for San Franciscans accused of misdemeanors while developing future public defenders through the office’s internship and community outreach programs, including a new pilot program with Berkeley and UCSF students this year.
If you’re sick of watching the state trample poor people’s rights, come learn how to build a career fighting for justice.
