Navahine v. Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is the world’s first youth-led constitutional climate case aimed at stopping climate pollution from transportation systems. The plaintiffs and Our Children’s Trust have secured a landmark settlement requiring Hawaiʻi to achieve zero transportation emissions by 2045. Hear OCT Lead Attorney Andrea Rodgers, Senior Climate Scientist Anders Carlson, and youth plaintiff Rylee Brooke recount how they brought the highest levels of government to the negotiating table and secured an agreement that: affirms their right to a life-sustaining climate system and could serve as a model for youth worldwide. Moderated by the Human Rights Center’s Betsy Popken.
