RSVP and more info in the QR Code! // Event Details: Weds, Sept 25 12:50 - 2:00, Rm 130](https://www.law.berkeley.edu/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Flyer.jpg)
NOTE: LPE at Berkeley Law has decided to postpone this event because it would have conflicted with the Pro Bono Program’s Legal Ethics trainings for new SLPS members. We have moved this event to next Friday, October 4th, at the same time in the same room! You can RSVP for the new time here. We will also create a new events calendar entry reflecting the new date.
Students at Berkeley Law often come in wanting to effect some kind of change in the world: defending communities against state violence, preserving our planet’s habitability for human life, and on and on. But today’s legal education generally omits something we think is necessary to effecting that change: organizing.
Come join Law and Political Economy at Berkeley Law for a conversation about how organizing can keep you in touch with the vision that brought you here. We’ll use some insights from abolitionist Ruth Wilson Gilmore and the late-great labor organizer (and our former union sibling!) Jane McAlevey to foreground what organizing is. Then, folks from LPE at Berkeley Law will briefly explain why we think organizing is valuable for us as law students. Finally, we’ll have a small panel of grad student organizers at Berkeley share about their experiences building progressive movements on campus.
Lunch provided! Please RSVP here.
Events are wheelchair accessible. For disability-related accommodations, contact the organizer of the event. Advance notice is kindly requested.
If you have any photos or video from your event that you’d like to share with Berkeley Law for possible use in our digital and print marketing, please email communications@law.berkeley.edu.
