Immigration Court Observation Program Training

Join the Bay Area National Lawyers Guild (NLG) and Berkeley Immigration Group (BIG) in efforts to observe and monitor immigration court proceedings in the Bay Area to safeguard the due process rights of our immigrant neighbors!
All students are eligible to participate in this court observation program training (including BIG members, non-members, and 1Ls/LL.M.s who have not yet completed the Berkeley Law pro bono ethics training) and to support NLG’s efforts to hold immigration judges accountable and improve access to justice for immigrants.
The ICOP program will provide a training session on Thursday, September 5 from 12:45-2 in the Goldberg Room to prepare court observers to monitor court proceedings using a court watching assessment form. ICOP will provide observers with a court watching manual covering the fundamentals of a due process hearing and encourage observers to prepare themselves for court watching by participating in mock hearings. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP.
