Marina Modlin is a Bay Area lawyer, founder of Modlin Legal, a freelance firm and now an estate planning firm. Ms. Modlin is the author of the recently-published The Independence Track: How To Succeed As A Freelance Attorney, a how-to guide for attorneys pursuing freelance/contract work directly from law firms (as opposed to indirectly from temp agencies). The book will be featured and available for sale from the National Association for Legal Career Professionals (NALP) website.
In her highly interactive seminar, Ms. Modlin will explain how to set up a freelance law practice, how to get freelance work, and how to actually do the work. Her process has been described as “common-sense,” “pragmatic,” and “easy to put into practice.” Ms. Modlin has previously presented on this topic at the University of Santa Clara School of Law and will be presenting at UC Davis School of Law in September 2011.
