“A president’s most long-lasting legacy is arguably the judges he appoints,” writes Dean Chemerinsky in his opinion piece. “Many will serve for decades after the president leaves office. Republicans have tended to recognize this much more than Democrats. That needs to change, and quickly.”

“In the last two years, the Supreme Court has dramatically moved constitutional law in a conservative direction,” writes Dean Erwin Chemerinsky.

“This is what the court conservatives have wanted for decades – and it is not disappointing them,” said Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of the University of California Berkeley Law School.

“The laws in Texas and more than a dozen other states which ban gender-affirming care for transgender minors are stunning in their cruelty and are clearly unconstitutional, as infringing on the rights of parents to control the upbringing of their children,” writes Dean Chemerinsky.

Professor John Yoo, testifying in defense of Trump attorney John Eastman, told the California State Bar Court that he doesn’t share his colleague’s belief that Vice President Mike Pence had basis to alter the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

“The usual inquiry at the beginning of a term is, ‘What are the big cases and how is the court likely to rule on those cases?'” retired federal judge Jeremy Fogel, who heads the Berkeley Judicial Institute at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, said in an interview. “But the question about the court’s administration of its own business – I don’t remember ever seeing that at the beginning of a term.”

“One of the most important themes of the term will be the Supreme Court having to deal with the internet and social media more than ever before,” said Erwin Chemerinsky, the dean of Berkeley Law.
